In southern South America between Argentina and Peru is the country of Chile. With a population of over 16 million people, just 15% of whom are evangelical Christians, Precept Ministries International is working to teach Chileans to study the Word of God for themselves using the inductive study method. Go here to explore the ministry of Precept in the country of Chile. A beautiful country which includes the famous Easter Island, Chile is one of 150 countries where people are learning to observe, interpret, and apply God’s Word through the ministry of Precept.
As stated before in this post, I love Christian biographies. Stories of intrigue, courage, perseverance, pain, triumph – and in the midst of it all are just ordinary people living ordinary lives in extraordinary obedience, oftentimes under extraordinary circumstances. This particular book, God’s Smuggler by Brother Andrew, is what started it all for me. This is where my journey of faith met modern-day Hebrews 11 saints. It also began my involvement with the ministry started by Brother Andrew in 1955 which continues today: Open Doors. Open Doors is a ministry to persecuted Christians worldwide. They provide encouragement, training for pastors, financial help, legal help, Bibles and more to Christians in the most persecuted countries of the world.
Read the book, check out Open Doors’ website, and get involved in supporting our Christian brothers and sisters around the world!
Precept Ministries International is known as “The Inductive Bible Study People.” That’s because they are dedicated to helping people all over the world study to show themselves approved unto God, workmen that do not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the Word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). In almost 150 countries with their materials translated into almost 70 languages, PMI is indeed fulfilling that goal.
Today’s International Spotlight falls on Precept Canada. A separate ministry from the U.S. ministry with its own board of directors, Precept Ministries International Canada is doing its part to make disciples of Jesus Christ who are firmly grounded in the Word of God. Visit their site here and see what our neighbors to the north are up to!

Each Monday for the next several weeks I’d like to highlight some of the countries where Precept is working to establish people in God’s Word. For this first week of “Monday’s International Spotlight,” I’d like to shine the light on Precept Ministries Australia under the direction of Rod and Gloria Dale. Visit their site and see what God is doing down under!

Even as a young child, I had a hunger to know God’s Word. I can remember listening to my pastor and other preachers and hearing them say, “In the original Greek that word means . . .” And I would think to myself, how do you know that? And how do I know what you are telling me is true, and where do I get that mysterious Greek (or Hebrew) book that tells me what the word means? I listened with a you’ll-have-to-prove-it-to-me attitude. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I have always encouraged my children – and my Bible study students – to come to their own conclusions about Scripture. Just make sure it is an educated, informed opinion that comes from diligent study.
When I discovered inductive Bible study over 17 years ago, it fit me like a glove. It opened the Word of God to me like no other study had ever done. If you’d like to dip your toe in the inductive study pond before completely diving in, then check out this resource. It is from Precept Ministries International and is called a Lightning Study. Click on the picture above to download and then print it out. It will take only about 10-15 minutes to complete.
If you like it, print out extras and share with a friend or two. Maybe you and a co-worker could do it over lunch.Or maybe you could get together at Starbucks with a few friends. Be creative – but just give it a try. I think you’ll like it. Keep checking back because I will be posting more Lightning Studies to download in the future.
