In honor of the fact that Passover begins at sundown tonight, I am sharing the key word symbol that I use to mark this word when doing inductive Bible study. The lines symbolize side and top door posts; the color symbolizes the lamb’s blood that was applied there to keep the angel of death from stopping at the home of anyone without the blood applied and, thus, claiming the life of the firstborn of the household. (You can read about it in Exodus 2:2-12.)
What a beautiful foreshadowing of the perfect Passover Lamb, Jesus Christ, who takes away the sins of the world. (Revelation 5:12)

Are you overwhelmed by the busyness of life? Does the work of the daily grind sap all of your time and energy? Do you want to grow stronger spiritually but just can’t see past the tyranny of the urgent? Lord, Help Me Grow Spiritually Strong in 28 Days can help! This study written by mother and son team Kay and David Arthur is designed to teach you God’s path to spiritual growth. Written much like a devotional, each day will take about 20-30 minutes to complete. That’s a lunch break, a toddler’s nap, a Starbucks stop.
At Precept Camden we will be starting this 4-week study on April 20. If you’d like to take this study with us in person, email email@example.com to sign up. If you’d like to take the study online, just order your book and do your lesson each week. After you have completed your lesson, you can listen to the class discussion that is posted each week on the Listen Here page. ( The online discussion is usually posted by noon each Tuesday.) To order your book, click on the picture above or go here.
Let’s grow spiritually strong together!
Marking key words is a fundamental component of inductive Bible study. I have been studying the Bible inductively for almost 20 years. As a result, I have marked a lot of words and have tried a multitude of different pens to do the marking. Thus far, the best pens that I have found for the job have been the Pilot Frixion Erasable Gel Pens. The gel ink is almost like a color pencil; it has a flat finish instead of shiny like most gel inks. And it is erasable. This is its most outstanding quality. There is also minimal bleedthrough on the thin paper that most Bibles have.
These pens are now available in Precept Camden’s store in the right sidebar.

Yes, you heard me right. Erasable highlighters. They come from Pilot – the same people who make the most awesome Bible marking pens ever invented, the Pilot Frixion Color-Pencil-Like Erasable Gel Ink Pens. And if you think I’m waxing a little too poetic about these pens, then it’s obvious you haven’t tried them. (A 6-pack of these pens is now available in Precept Camden’s Store in the right sidebar.)
I have tried out these highlighters in my Bible as well as in books I am reading. They seem to do great in both. They are not overly “wet” like some highlighters that, as a result, tend to make thin Bible pages crinkle when they dry. And they also have that erasable thing going for them.
And, just for you, I am giving away a set of these erasable highlighters! Just leave a comment on this post. It can be about anything – your favorite Bible marking pens, a great online supplier of writing instruments, how awesome I am. . . You know, anything that comes to mind. I will use a random number generator to choose a winner and will mail them to you. I’ll mail them anywhere – even international. So leave a comment by March 18, 2010, for your chance to win.

This week our church community groups began a new study called The Easter Experience. It is a 6-week study that will lead us into the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday which falls on April 4 this year. There is a weekly 20-minute dvd plus a participant’s study guide. I have been looking so forward to beginning this new study in anticipation of the Easter season which is really the holiest, most sacred, and most joyful time of year for Christians.
Last night was the first installment. You know how sometimes these “church” videos can be cheesy and amateurish – sometimes to the point of embarrassment? Well, The Easter Experience is NOT! It was very well done, interesting, insightful, and provocative. I can’t recommend it highly enough. And I can’t wait until next week.
I encourage you to get this study for your small group, Sunday school class, or family. But hurry so that you can finish it just in time to celebrate Resurrection Day on April 4!
